SEPTEMBER 2011

Charity Coast to Coast Cycle Ride (24th-26th September, 2011)

On the 24th September 2011, a group of 10 MACAW Engineering employees (and support car) set off to cycle from the coast of the Irish Sea in Whitehaven (North-West England) to Tynemouth on the North-East coast in order to raise money for the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation and Parkinson’s UK. The coast to coast route covers a distance of approximately 135 miles and is Britain’s most popular long distance cycle route.

Crossing the beautiful Lake District, the low-rising mountain range of the Pennines and the picturesque counties of Northumberland and Durham, the team finished at Tynemouth pier three days later, raising over £1,000 for the 2 charities in the process.

JUNE 2011

Volunteering Day at Seaton Delaval Hall (30th June, 2011)

Following one of the biggest ever campaigns by the National Trust to secure the stunning 18th century Vanbrugh house, gardens and over 400 acres of surrounding land, Seaton Delaval Hall in Northumberland was transferred to National Trust ownership on the 17th December 2009 and opened to the public in May 2010.

A selection of MACAW staff participated in a volunteering day on the 30th June 2011 to assist with the ongoing development of the Hall and grounds for the enjoyment of the public.

The day was spent creating a pathway through the woodland area...

MAY 2011

Sponsorship of the 41st Jim Clark Rally (27th - 29th May, 2011)

James "Jim" (or "Jimmy") Clark, Jr. OBE (4 March 1936 – 7 April 1968) was a British Formula One racing driver from Scotland. Clark was considered the dominant driver of his era, winning two World Championships, in 1963 and 1965.

2011 Jim Clark Rally
The Jim Clark Rally was first held in 1970, organised by many of his friends, including those of the Berwick & District Motor Club of which he was president.
Quickly established as a round of the Scottish Rally Championship, it became Britainʹs first rally stage held on closed public roads (under special Parliamentary Order). In 1999, the Rally became a round of the British Rally Championships and since 2003, the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.

Now one of the biggest motor sport events in the UK, the Jim Clark Rally is a fitting celebration of a local hero and motor racing legend.
